ARSONIST IN BUFFALO?:
Buffalo Firefighters on the East Side of the city have been busy lately with multiple structure fires. There were a total of 4 yesterday. I don't know the total number of fires, since there are just too many to count.
 
2 ALARM FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded overnight for a report of a structure fire on Bailey Ave near the lumber yards. Engine 28 was on location reporting heavy fire conditions. B-56 requested a second alarm to the scene for manpower.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded yesterday for a report of a structure fire on Ashley St. Engine 22 was on location reporting fire in the rear of a 1 1/2 story. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded late last night for a report of a structure fire on Peck St. Engine 35 was on location with heavy fire conditions on all sides of a 2 1/2 story house. The fire was under control in about 32 minutes.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Sycamore St. Engine 22 was on location with smoke showing. B-43 reported heavy fire in the rear of a 2 1/2 story frame. The fire was under control in about 19 minutes.

3 ALARM FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded late last night for a report of a structure fire on Goodyear Ave. Engine 22 was on location reporting a well involved 2 1/2 story and exposures on the #2 & #4 sides. B-56 requested a 2nd alarm to the scene for exposure protection. Further reports stated that 4 houses were now involved and B-56 requested a 3rd alarm to the scene for manpower. The fires were under control in about 2 1/2 hours.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on West Delevan Ave. Engine 19 was on location reporting heavy fire conditions on the first floor of a 2 1/2 story house. On arrival a power line fell on the Engine leaving it charged and could not be used which allowed the fire to extend to the attic through the interior walls.

SERIOUS MVA:
Evans Firefighters responded today for a report of a MVA on Route 20 at Gowan Rd. Command was on location reporting a multiple car MVA with multiple victims with extrication needed. Command special called for 3 ambulances and 2 Mercy Flight helicopters.
 
2 ALARM FIRE:
Scranton Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Roseview Ave. Command was on location reporting a fully involved 2 1/2 story frame. A second alarm was sounded bringing mutual aid from Blasdell.

WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Nevada Ave. Engine 31 was on location with heavy smoke showing from a 2 1/2 story house. E31 further reported fire on the 2nd floor with extension to the attic. The fire was under control in about 16 minutes.

Gowanda Fire Company recieved $37,728 for Fire Prevention from the second round of the 2003 FIREACT Grants
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Sweet Ave. Engine 22 was on location with heavy smoke showing from a 1 1/2 story boarded up house. E22 further reported fire in the rear of the structure on the 1st floor with extension to the 2nd. B-56 requested an emergency demolition and declared the fire under control in about 21 minutes.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded for a report of a structure fire on Breckenridge St. Engine 37 was on location reporting a 2 1/2 story house with heavy fire on the 1st and extension to the attic. The fire was under control in about 15 minutes.

AIRCRAFT DOWN:
Woodlawn Firefighters responded today for a report of a helicopter down on Route 5 at Route 179, the Ford Motor Plant. Command was on location reporting a Mercy Flight Helicopter crash landed in the parking lot and requested Rural Metro to the scene. All 3 crew members walked away from the crash and the helicopter was a total loss.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Angola Firefighters responded today for a report of a structure fire at Fairview Rd and Nashville Rd. Command was on location reporting a working fire in a 2 story house.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of an automobile fire at 10th St. & Virginia St. Engine 2 was on location reporting a fully involved auto with extension to a 1 1/2 story house. B-43 requested the balance of the 1st alarm bringing Engines 1, 37, Ladders 4, 2, & Recsue 1. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.

Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Person St. Engine 22 was on location reporting heavy fire conditions on the 1st an 2nd floors of a 1 1/2 story. The fire was under control in about 20 minutes.

2 ALARM HIGH RISE FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a high rise fire on Washington St at the Hotel Lafayette. Engine 2 was on location reporting a room and contents fire on the 6th floor of a high rise. B56 requested a 2nd alarm be sent (Engines 21,37,35,22, Ladders 4, 5, 6, and B44) and stage at Engine 1 quarters. The fire was under control in about 12 minutes.
 
ATV ACCIDENT:
Marilla Firefighters responded this afternoon for a report of 2 ATV's colliding. Command was on location reporting 2 ATV collided and special called Mercy Flight to the scene for 1 victim.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Holland Firefighters responded yesterday afternoon for a report of a structure fire on Park Ave. Command was on scene reporting a working fire and special called South Wales and Colden to the scene.

FATAL 3 ALARM FIRE:
Cleveland Hill Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Kenville Rd. CH 9 was on location with heavy smoke and fire from the rear of a 2 story MDU. CH 9 special called Pine Hill and Snyder (FAST) to the scene. Firefighters found 1 victim inside the fire building and was pronounced DOA.

FATAL MVA:
Elma Firefighters responded yesterday for a report of a MVA at the intersection of Jamison and Bowen Roads. Command was on location with a 2 car MVA and both in the ditch. Extrication was needed and Mercy Flight was special called to the scene. One victim was transported and pronounced DOA at the hospital

WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Essex St. Engine 37 was on location with heavy smoke showing. Entry was blocked by iron gates surrounding the property and cutting was necessary to gain access. Upon entry fire was found on the first floor. The fire was under control in about 33 minutes.

Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Rapid Ave. B-56 reported a 2 1/2 story with fire on the 2nd floor. The fire was under control in about 13 minutes.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Lackawanna Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a structure fire on Pearl Ave. Command was on location reporting a working fire in a 2 1/2 story house with an exposure on the #4 side. Further reports had the #4 side exposure involved as well.

WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded late last night for a report of a structure fire on Wakefield St. Engine 24 was on location reporting two 2 1/2 story houses involved with fire and an exposure problem on the #4 side. B-47 requested additional companies bringing Engine 38 & Ladder 6. B-56 reported 2 houses fully involved and fire in the attic of the exposure on the #4 side and reuested an additional 1 & 1 bringing Engine 33 & Ladder 4. The fire was declared under control in about 46 minutes.

Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Grider St. Engine 24 was on location with fire showing on the second floor of a 2 1/2 story frame.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Main St. B-47 was on location reporting smoke showing and fire on the 1st floor of a 2 story MDU. The fire was under control in about 10 minutes.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Bellevue Firefighters responded last night for a report of an odor of smoke on Union Rd. Bellevue 9-2 was on location reporting a working fire in the walls. The fire was under control in about 36 minutes.

Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Rodgers St. Engine 31 was on location reporting fire showing on the 2nd floor of a 2 1/2 vacant. The fire was under control in about 6 minutes.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded this morning for a report of a structure fire on Eureka Pl. Engine 21 was on location with fire showing in the front and rear of the building.
 
FATAL MVA:
Evans Firefighters responded yesterday for a report  of a MVA on Route 5. Command was on location reporting a 2 car MVA with 2 rollovers and extrication needed. Mercy Flight was special called for 1 victim who later died.

BATHROOM FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded early this morning for a report of a fire in a bathroom. Engine 23 was on location with smoke showing. E23 further reported a fire in the bathroom on the 2nd floor. The fire was under control in about 9 minutes.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of an odor of smoke on 18th St. E37 was on location reporting fire showing on the first floor and porch. B-43 requested the balance of the first alarm to the scene. The fire was under control in about 8 minutes.

ARSON BUG:
There have been many arson fires on the East Side of Buffalo in recent days. There were 4 today (Grimes, Shepard, Gatchell, and Person Sts'). This is becoming serious and a $2000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Niagra St. Engine 19 was on location with smoke showing from a boarded up 2 1/2 vacant house. Engine 26 was reporting heavy fire on the 2nd floor. Upon entry E19 reported heavy smoke and severe heat conditions inside on all floors. The fire was under control in about 25 minutes.
 
EMERGENCY SERVICES APPRECIATION NIGHT:
Holland International Speedway is hosting an Emergency Services Appreciation Night this Saturday June 7th. Those with proper ID will get free admission to the speedway. Each company represented will earn a ticket for a raffle with the prize being a new Cardiac Science AED. Any department bringing apparatus will recieve 4 free tickets to an upcoming event at Holland Speedway. Buffalo Firefighters responded today for a report of a structure fire on Grimes St. F-11 was on location with heavy fire showing on the 1st and 2nd floor of a 2 1/2 story vacant frame and exposure problems on the #2 side.
 
WORKING FIRE:
Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Broadway across from Engine 22s' quarters. F-11 was on scene reporting a working fire with exposures. B-46 reported a fully involved garage with extension to the exposure. Engine 22 was out of quarters at the scene of the fire on Walden at the time of the fire. The fire was under control in about 6 minutes.

Buffalo Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Walden Ave. Engine 31 was on location with an automobile fully involved and extension to the 2 1/2 story vacant house. B-43 was reporting fire on the 2nd floor with extension to the attic. The fire was under control in about 18 minutes.

City of Tonawanda Firefighters responded last night for a report of a structure fire on Wheeler St. Command was on location reporting a working fire in a large commercial structure.

Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Metcalf St. Engine 32 was on location with heavy fire showing from the 1st and 2nd floors of a 4 story MDU. B-46 requested a 2nd alarm to the scene for manpower. The fire was under control in about 41 minutes.
